Birmingham ink, petechiae, and maybe...war?

Anyone else horribly overwhelmed with the goings on of the world at the moment? I know I am. Life is stress on stress lately. I haven't made art or done much of anything except work and sleep.

The other day I purchased a few Birmingham fountain pen inks. They have what is called sheening - When applied heavily they turn almost a metallic duochrome in places where the ink is very thick or has pooled. The picture doesn't do it justice. It shines as it moves, almost like a duochrome effect. The pink on the teal looks almost black from one direction and then rich fuchsia in another.

They work better on less absorbent paper, so I have a lot of experimenting to do. Obviously perfect for calligraphy but I am not sure how to use them for my own work. I thought it would be more like granulating pigments, but sheening is much different! A learning curve for sure. The last thing I needed was something else to experiment with but - I am what I am; what I am is a supply whore.

A week ago or so I started a new medication for a sinus infection. Now...I thought for sure I would be fine with it but for some reason I took it and VIOLENTLY vomited an hour later. So violent in fact that I had a mask of petechiae around my eyes for a week. I thought it was initially food poisoning, but two days later when I took my meds again, more puking. That time I blew a blood vessel in my eye. Needless to say - I stopped the meds. lol.

Scribbles fell down the stairs again, this time of his own accord because he was spinning to grab a ball at the top of the stairs and rolled down like a kid on a hill.

That damn dog is gonna be the death of me, I swear.

I hope I am off tomorrow, my mood has been better and I may want to actually get my hands dirty with some art if I can clean up the studio. It's going to be hot as hell and I have plans to do something with my best friend, but I am hoping it's inside in the air conditioning so my fatty perimenopausal ass doesn't melt. I also have a puzzle to finish. Too many things to do and not enough time to do them!

I have Baby Lasagna songs running through my head on a loop. That should keep me awake...

Fingers crossed. As always, enjoy the day random persons on the internet. I believe I have another batch of color cube doodles to drop today - just need to get with it!
