About the Project
In March, I purchased a set of 500 color palettes by Sarah Renae Clark. I decided off-hand to attempt a digital doodle for all 500. Am I crazy? Yeah maybe. But it's been a fun challenge. I am able to play with digital work that can be done anywhere AND I learn about color AND I might come up with ideas I want to see in finished work.

Most of these will not be "finished", which is why I call them doodles. I told myself I wouldn't spend too much time perfecting details or being obsessive about the drawings. Basically it is a digital sketchbook.

On July 4th, 2024 I finished my first 20 and started this page.

01
Palette 400
Where it started. I asked a coworker to pick a random number, found a muse on sketchy and did a sketch. This was the day I decided to try and do all 500.
02
Palette 293
I really enjoyed this palette. Also, things might get weird in this process. It's just how my brain works. It's not going to be a lot of planning it's just - what my brain does.

03
Palette 022
If Portland was a person? Another Sktchy app muse doodle.
04
Palette 017
The all bold palettes can be rough to work with. I find I need at least a little bit of something dark or muted to really make things pop like I want.

05
Palette 025
Thanks, I hate it.
06
Palette 175
This number was picked by a coworker who was moving on to bigger better things. I never showed her the finish because - well. I dunno if she would appreciate the vibe my brain took with this color combo. ha...haha

07
Palette 096
Unexpectedly enjoyed this palette and the finish product. Another Sktchy muse.
08
Palette 236
Warm on warm - just a Sktchy muse portrait.

09
Palette 224
Another Sktchy muse.
10
Palette 069
This is probably going to be a painting at some point. It's an idea I have had floating around in my head a long time....

11
Palette 498
What in the 80's graphic heck did I do here?
12
Palette 097
This palette just screamed for something simple, graphic, and cute.

13
Palette 337
I swear the muse this was done from was not a scary baby... I kinda hate drawing babies...why do I keep doing it????

14
Palette 500
Saint Sebastian is my jam. I love the imagery. This was done as an homage to Odilion Redon's painting of Saint Sebastian, just with a Bambi twist. Also I LOVE this color palette!

15
Palette 003
Warm palette, Sktchy muse,
16
Palette 305
This palette just screamed for something simple, graphic, and cute.

17
Palette 375
Aunt Donna, but with red hair and a weird face. This is the point where I discovered how to put a texture layer into my doodles...and yeah, this is pretty great...
18
Palette 250
I enjoyed playing around with this. This is the first time I discovered textured backgrounds in the digital space.

I can actually make things look more natural media now and that has me STOKED.

19
Palette 078
Wheatheads!
20
Palette 123
Initially I hated this, but it grew on me. I like the almost glowing effect.

23
Palette 489
Fiddling with more texture and more brushes. Another very monochromatic palette. Basically black and white.
24
Palette 264
I found my fav paper texture and brush combo so far while doing this. It's just enough tooth to be really fun to work on. I will be experimenting a lot but this combo will be back.

25
Palette 333
Cthulu wants you. *smooch
26
Palette 077
Been on a monster kick lately apparently. This was a unique palette I wouldn't have put together myself but I enjoyed playing with it.

27
Palette 257
More monsters. More awkward poses. lol
28
Palette 028
This was a fun combo of colors but I just decided to do a simple floral doodle to play with them.

29
Palette 317
Bright n fun. Eyeballs are great.
30
Palette 491
I am finding I have a lot of fun with palettes with a lot of muted tones and one or two really bright suckers.

Palette 315

35
Palette 406
Another head another tree. I dunno why I cannot stop doing that.
36
Palette 347
This is on my list of top ones so far. I love the slash brush. I used to do similar things on my sculpture back in school - it's something I really like doing and it always comes back

37
Palette 055
I saw a picture of a boy holding out a chicken wing on the internet and he looked - so sad. lol. Hence this doodle was born.

Palette 180

39
Palette 237

40
Palette 198
I wanted to try to make something creepy with very uncreepy colors.
