On August 10th, one of my coworkers passed from pancreatic cancer. He was a great guy, always kind and smiling. Diagnosis to death was shockingly fast. I decided to pull his color cube palette and do a portrait. Fittingly it was in some bright fun colors that matched his personality. The family had people wear fun color and Hawaiian shirts to his memorial service because he would have liked it that way.

I traced his official photo to get the proportions right, and it started me thinking how much fun it was to just paint and not have to spend forever getting the drawing base down - so this may be something I play with going forward.

I also upgraded my Ipad so I have more room when I use Rebelle through Astropad (a monitor duping software). It has been amazing. It's amazing what an extra 2 inches can do. Giggity.

It's been a few weeks of fun experimentation. Now that Mom is retired I am also getting more time with her - at least until work OT kicks up again. Which it is. Another 12 day 12 hour stretch waits for me in September. To be frank, I am burnt out as all hell. But I am trying to focus on the benefits and trying to find time to take care of myself and my dog and my house too. Right now it looks like I live in a hurricane of "What the hell happened here?" but I have no visitors and live at work, so it is what it is. I have a few days off after today so hopefully I will have the gumption to get some stuff done and have a little art and adventure.
